Group visits schools, donates learning materials



In a bid to improve the educational standard of the students of the 3 local governments of Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa area of Osun state, a socio-political organisation Iwoland Development Coalition (IDC), recently embarked on school visitations to promote academic excellence, good leadership and community development among students.  


The group, according to its coordinator, Mr. Adisa Kabiru Kulu, said that the purpose of the visit was to develop a better mind of productive ambassadors that would project the true positive image of Iwoland in the nearest future. He said there is an urgent need to arrest the crawling state of education in Nigeria remarking that everything cannot be left in the custody of government.

Mr. Kabiru praised the academic prowess Iwo was known for, pointing that the standard must be sustained to build a virile generation and avoid sedentary attitude.

He said some learning aided materials such as mathematical set; writing pen were distributed and free computer training was awarded to 3 students selected from each of the 3 schools visited to keen their interest and support their learning process.

‘’Our visitation to 3 secondary schools was to inculcate equity, unity and fairness among the 3 local governments that constitutes AYIWOLA.  

“Papa Community Grammar school (Iwo), Community Grammar School (Ilemowu) in Ola-Oluwa Local government and Oluponna High School (Oluponna) in Ayedire local government tasted the first batch of our gesture.  It was the tip of the iceberg. We are mentally prepared to upgrade our city to enviable heights.

He admonished the students benefiting from the free computer training to optimize the opportunity reiterating that computer literacy is an added advantage ahead of others in modern time. He gave the names of the beneficiaries as Alonge Deborah from Oluponna High School,  Ibrahim Taiwo schooling at Community Grammar School (Ilupeju),  Sarafa Jamiu and Adeyemi Rosheed both students of Papa Community Grammar School.

It could be recalled that the coalition has earlier built an health centre at Akinbami, a suburb village of Ayedire local government, Osun state, amended potholes in Iwo, renovated Iwo roundabout junction situated at Iwo night market very close to the king palace.

Mr. Kulukulu challenged the people of the area to be patriotic to the course of progress by dissipating their God endowed skill, knowledge and money to build a better future for both the born and unborn generation.
