Muslim Children

Muslim Children's Network

Why MCN?

Muslim kids are disproportionately underrepresented in finals of national speaking and debate events. This, of course, is a clear evidence of what we have all suspected all along- Muslims children still tend to be shyer in public than their non-Muslim counterparts. Their lack of confidence or its inadequacy is a stain on our upbringing system. A situation that further puts Muslims at a disadvantage in the media world where we remain in the minority as not enough of us are well equipped to excel in the media. If confident and articulate children make confident adults, we need to build more confident children then.

MCN as the Ways Forward

We can whine, complain, throw tantrum about this or we can actually do something about it. The Muslim Childrens Network was created in 2012 to tackle this problem head-on. MCN aims to train, polish and empower Muslim children through capacity building training in Leadership, Public Speaking and Media works. In the last one year, the project has engaged 101 Muslim children from various schools in Abuja through its yearly Summer Training.

To reach more pupils and make a bigger impact, the the MCN School Club was instituted. It eliminates the problem of transport logistics for parents and ensure the training is received in an entirely educational setting. With our well-designed curriculum and adept delivery, we believe we are capable of turning around positively the public speaking ability of a child within a year.

MCN: The Muslim Children’s Network is a training programme for kids that focus on communication and leadership skills development.
